OLPC Give One Get One / OLPC Compre Um Dê Um

This one could be a revolution. It's the piece of hardware that led to the Intel's ClassMate PC, and even to some extent to my beloved Asus Eee PC. It revolutionary in many ways, hardware wise were new technologies were developed (new screen, new power generator,etc.) , and software wise so that networks (mesh network) and software adapt to the people and to the environment that it is supposed to "live" in. And if the aim of the project prevails, revolutionary because will give the millions of children of today in under developed countries the generational leap they need and also their country's need to change the world of today. I, for myself, only wish this project comes true in it's goal. More specifically, there is the this new program where you can buy one at a higher price but that means you're giving one to a children, for free. Great project!

P.S.: And, obviously, the software is Open Source. Unfortunately it's US and Canada only.

Este pode ser bem uma revolução. É uma peça de hardware que levou outros a surgirem como o ClassMate PC da Intel, e até alguma da inovação do meu adorado Asus Eee PC. É revolucionário de muitas formas, em termos de hardware desenvolveram-se novas tecnologias (para o écran, gerador de electricidade, etc.), e também de software de forma a adaptar as redes (redes em mesh) e o software em si ao diferente habitat em que vai ser usado. E se o objectivo do projecto prevalecer, revolucionário porque dará a milhões de crianças em países subdesenvolvidos o salto geracional que necessitam e que os seus países necessitam para mudar o mundo de hoje. Eu, pessoalmente, desejo que o projecto se realize. Mais especificamente, existe agora o projecto de disponibilizar a venda a qualquer pessoa a um preço superior, mas que inclui que por cada compra seja entregue outro OLPC a uma criança, grátis. Grande Projecto!

P.S.: E, como é óbvio, o software que lá corre é Open Source. Infelizmente é só para os EUA e Canadá.
