Asus CEO said that later this year the EeePC will have a 10 inch display and that it will be the max display size for the EeePC line since 12 inches are out of the EeePC specs and enter the mainstream notebook/laptop market. More details over at PCWorld.

MSI officially gave some more specs. Now it's 80Gb 2.5inch hard-drive, 8.9 and 10 inches LED backlight. But, for some reason, right now it's Windows XP only!??! Well, that doesn't mean we can't take that all out of the 80Gb and put our distro of choice, right? :)

A MSI já deu mais umas especificações oficiais. Agora sabemos que terá 80Gb de disco de 2.5 polegadas, 8.9 e 10 polegadas de ecran com LED backlight. Mas, por alguma razão, por agora anuncia ser só com Windows XP!??! Bom, mas isso não invalida que limpemos os 80Gb e instalemos a distribuição que gostamos, certo? :)

MSI reply is in the "Wind" until June... / A resposta da MSI ainda é só "Wind(vento)"

For now, and until June because of Intel launch of Atom, MSI is only releasing details. So it will be starting from 470 dollars to 1,099 dollars with a large variety of configurations, like SSD or 2.5-inch HD, Atom's from 1Ghz to 1,6Ghz, 8,9 inch display to 10inch display, and 1GB Ram. My opinion let's wait for the summer because competition will drive those prices down!!

Por agora, e devido ao facto da Intel só lanças os processadores Atom em Junho, a MSI só vai deixando pormenores do que pensa vender em Junho. Assim, temos preços a partir de 470 dólares atá 1,099 dólares com uma variedade grande de configurações, como por exemplo SSD ou HD de 2.5 polegadas, Atom's de 1Ghz até 1,6 Ghz, monitores de 8,9 polegadas até 10 polegadas e 1GB de RAM. Na minha opinião é melhor esperar pelo Verão e deixar a concorrência aguerrida, que se está a formar, baixar os preços.

HP 2133 Mini-Note

If anyone had doubt's about the market that the EeePC has created, then this story must clear all those doubt's. It's the launch of the 2133 from the HP giant! Yes HP is in the game for this type of device. And for what the reviews say, it is a winner. I really wanted to get my hands on one of this. There are already lot's of reviews around the Net. Well Asus with it's EeePC really created something of a game changer! Look at the lot's of competitors being released every week to try to go at it! This time around is the Everex Cloudbook MAX. An update to the simpler Everex Cloudbook. You can see the specs here and some photo hands on here.

I already talked about this one. It's supposed to be a Asus EeePC concurrent but it the new specs and specially the new price I don't think so. But let's wait to see if the specs and prices Engadget listed are true. Above all I think HP is really mistaken about selling this like "hot cakes".

Mas vamos esperar para ver se as especificações e preços que o site Engadget publicou são verdadeiras. Acima de tudo não acho que se vão vender como "bolinhos quentes" como a HP refere.

ECS let loose more details from their Asus EeePC competitor. So now we know for sure that it will have: 3 USB 2.0, Ethernet, VGA connection, 56k modem, WiFi, Bluetooth and 7.2 HSDPA. Also the display will be 8,9 inches and 10,2 inches glossy type. And Intel Atom processors along with Intel 945 GSE/ICH7M chipset. Awesome!

A ECS lançou mais umas certezas sobre o seu competidor do Asus EeePC. Assim, sabemos que vai ter 3 portas USB 2.0, Ethernet, conexão VGA, modem 56k, wireless, bluetooth e modem 7,2 HSDPA. Os écrans serão do tipo glossy com 8,9 ou 10,2 polegadas. Terá processadores Intel Atom e chipset Intel 945 GSE/ICH7M. Espectacular!

Another low cost laptop with Linux now from Norhtec / Outro laptop de baixo custo com Linux da Norhtec

Well, it seems the trend is picking up momentum with another launch of a low cost laptop. Now it's Norhtec that, based on a Quanta design, is launching a laptop with Linpus Linux. Specs are a Via C7M ULV CPU clocked at 1Ghz, 7inch display and optional PATA hard disk. It's supposed to be under 300$ US (so it will be 299$). Let's wait and see. More info here.

Bom, parece que a moda pegou e está a ganhar balanço com mais um lançamento de um portátil de baixo custo. Agora é a vez da Norhtec, baseada num design da Quanta, vai lançar um portátil com o Linpus Linux. Especificações conhecidas são um processador C7M ULV a 1Ghz, écran de 7 polegadas e opcionalmente um disco rigido PATA. É suposto custar menos de 300$ US (logo 299$). Vamos esperar para ver. Asus EeePC an Mac Air killer / Asus EeePC e Mac Air concorrente

Here it is, the ECS G10IL. It's another concurrent to the Asus EeePC arena but has some features that may make it a Mac Air opposition too. It has HSUPA (3G) up to 7.2Mb/s, and it is supposed to be under 500$ US. Information is scarce but here is what I found on RegHardware.
