Right after Dell let loose their mininote, comes Acer with their Acer One. Today it's becoming a good day for the "low-cost" ultraportable.

UPDATE: It seems it's built by Quanta (who makes HP, Dell and Apple laptops) has 1024x600, an ATOM 1.6Ghz, 4Gb SSD but most important it's said it will cost 299€ in Europe which his 100€ lower than the Asus EeePC 900!! Wow!! Bring it on baby!!!

Well, well, after all it's not only HP who see's the ultraportable "low-cost" laptop market as a place to be on right now. It seems Dell is on the run too. Engadget has only pictures of it and very few details. It seems 8,9 inch display, but no certains. But it seems the Operating systems will be Windows or ... Ubuntu! Check out the pictures.

Olha, olha, afinal não é só a HP que vê o mercado dos ultraportáteis "low-cost" como um lugar a estar neste momento. Parece que a Dell também acha o mesmo. O site Engadget só tem umas fotos e muitos poucos detalhes. Parece que terá ecran de 8.9 polegadas. Mas parece que a escolha de sistemas operativos será entre Windows e ... Ubuntu! Vejam as fotos.

And even a protective bag. With our beloved Linux it will set you back only €424,95!!! Which make the prices of the HP 2133 look like an abuse! OpenOffice 3.0 Beta

It's out and you can download it from here. It seems very good, with lot's of new features which you can see and read about it here. I think some features do have in account are: ODF 1.2 support, Microsoft Office 2007 Import Filters, charting
enhancements, improved note capabilities in Writer, new icons, and a
start center. Also Mac OS X users will have some enhancements, like not needing the X11 to run it. It is expected to be released in 2 of September.

Já saiu e podem fazer download a partir daqui. Parece estar a ficar muito bom, com imensas novas funcionalidades que podem ver e ler sobre elas aqui. Eu penso que algumas a destacar são: suporte ao ODF 1.2, filtros de importação de documentos MS Office 2007, melhores gráficos, possibilidade de fazer comentários/notas no Writer, novos icons e um inicio centralizado. Também os fãs do Mac OS X terão melhorias como por exemplo não necessitar do X11 para correr o programa. É esperado o seu lançamento definitivo a 2 de Setembro.
