Here is a ... "review?" of the OLPC laptop by who really matters and not the "adult technicians" that are not the target of this marvelous and innovative piece of hardware. My opinion? A must read.

Try Linux without instalation / Testar Linux sem instalar

Yes, there are Live CD's that allow this, but I'm talking about doing it via Web without leaving your OS. Do you use Windows? Want to try Linux without any fuss (but in truth installing new distros is easier than installing Windows) go here and press "Start Linux". P.S.: It's slower than a Live CD, which in turn it's slower than a normal install, but let's you have a little of Linux flavor.

Sim, existem Live CD's que permitem isto, mas eu estou a falar de fazer via web sem sair do seu SO. Usa Windows? Quer testar o Linux sem problemas (mas na realidade instalar uma nova distro é mais simples que instalar Windows) vá atá aqui e clique em "Start Linux". P.S.: É mais lento que um Live CD, que por sua vez é mais lento que uma instalação normal em disco, mas sempre deixa dar um pouquinho do sabor do Linux.

Windows alternative aplications in Linux list / Listas equivalentes de aplicações Windows em Linux

There are many people that say that they won't use/try Linux because this or that aplication that they have in Windows doesn't exist in Linux. It may be true in some cases. Sometimes very specific ones, but to the average "Joe" that's not true. And if you really think about the advantages you get from making the switch you will acknowledge that even if you have to make some minor adjustments it will be worthwhile. So to give some help on this issue I may point you to two of many sites that make a list of alternatives for you to chose from and make a "informed" switch. The Linux Alternative Project or the Open Source Alternative are two good starting points. Come on, let's join the Open Source world!

Existem muitas pessoas que dizem que não usam/experimentam Linux porque os programas que usam em Windows não existem em Linux. Pode ser verdade em alguns casos. Algumas vezes, em casos muito específicos, mas para o utilizador normal isso não é verdade. E se pensarem bem nas vantagens que obtêm em fazer a troca vão chegar à conclusão que mesmo sendo, por vezes, um período mínimo de adaptação, vai valer a pena. Linux and M$ Active Directory / Linux e integração com a M$ Active Directory

Great news from Likewise. They have just released their Integrated Secure Authentication software open wide with the GPL3. The software allows for Seamless Integration of Windows, Linux, Unix and Mac machines. Excellent news for the enterprise Linux front. Canonical, Red Hat e Novell congratulated Likewise and say they will include their software in their distributions. Go here for their site and here for the download of pre-built packages for Ubuntu, OpenSuse and Fedora as well as the source code.

Excelentes noticias da Likewise. Eles acabaram de lançar o seu Integrated Secure Authentication software em formato Open Source com a licença GPL3. O software permite integração de máquinas Windows, Linux, Unix e Mac. Excelentes noticias para a parte empresarial do Linux.
