Simcity is Micropolis and Open Source! / Simcity é Micropolis e Open Source!

The OLPC project convinced Electronic Arts to give up on the source code of Simcity and they did (well it has a lot of history behind this, but if you want to know all about it go here). And so, by changing the name for trademark reasons Micropolis has born! It's the original Simcity that has been ported to the OLPC project XO, and it's open to the world because it's a ... Open Source project! So may days playing this... snif! ;) Go get it here.

O projecto OLPC convenceu a Electronic Arts a libertar o código fonte do Simcity e eles fizeram-no (bem, tem muita história por trás disto, mas se quiserem os pormenores todos vão ver aqui). E assim, mudando o nome por razões de registo de marcas, nasceu o Micropolis! É o Simcity original que foi portado para o XO da OLPC e está aberto ao mundo porque... é um projecto Open Source! This is the field where Open Source lags behind Windows. Yes, let's be real, we have Wine but that only means we are able to play most of the ... Windows games! Natively speaking, we have some excellent games, lot's of good games, but they fall behind, in terms of mass market type of games, the other OS.
